Microcalorimetric Studies of NO and NO2 Adsorption on In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 Catalyst

英文摘要Microcalorimetric technique was employed to study the adsorption of NO and NO2 on In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 catalyst, which possessed high activity for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO by CH4, in order to give the relationships between microcalorimetric studies and the catalytic activities. Microcalorimetric measurements were conducted on In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 and In/HZSM-5 catalysts at 313K, by using a Tian-Calvet heat-flow microcalorimeter which was linked to a gas-handling and volumetric adsorption system equipped with a Baratron pressure sensor. The amount of NO2 adsorbed on both catalysts was much larger than that of NO, showing that NO2 species were mainly adsorbed on the active indium sites in CH4-SCR reaction. In the low coverage the differential heat of NO2 adsorption on In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 was lager than that on In/HZSM-5, indicating the stronger adsorption bond between NO2 and the catalyst surface. This strong adsorption bond facilitates NO2 adsorption competing with H2O under the wet reaction conditions. Our research work showed that the reaction of NO2 and CH4 was faster than that of NO and O2 on both catalysts in the main reaction temperature range and thus it was very important for the incorporation of Fe2O3 into In/HZSM-5 whether promoted NO oxidation to NO2. Comparing with In/HZSM-5, In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 displayed the larger coverage and differential heat of NO adsorption and the higher initial differential heat of NO2 adsorption. It clearly suggested the incorporation of Fe2O3 promoted NO oxidation to NO2. This agreed well with the oxidation reaction of NO and O2.
