摘要: Conducting polymer composites(CPC) , a kind of new functional materials, have finding a growing number of applications in various electrical and electronic devices such as battery cathodes, light emitting diodes , electrochromic display devices, sensors(1). In this paper, a new composite of poly(N-methyl pyrrole) (PMPy) with high conductivity (1.58 Scm-1) was prepared by the oxidating N-methyl pyrrole with FeCl3 in the presence of SiO2 nanoparticles. The structure of the resulting composite was characterized. by Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FTIR), transmission electron micrographic (TEM). The incorporation of PMPy in the composite was endorsed by FTIR studies. TEM studies revealed the formation of polydispersed composite particles of diameters in the nanometer range. TGA is a useful method for testing the thermal stability of polymers. From TG curve, PMPy /SiO2 composite decomposes at 430℃,which reveals this composite has good thermal stability. Nano-SiO2 powder by itself does not show any loss in weight, i.e., it does not have any transition in this range of 30 to 700℃. The mass of conducting polymer per unit mass of the composite affects the conductivity of the composite, which is a very important factor for conducting polymers. By TG data, the mass of conducting polymer per unit mass of the composite could be quantitatively determined (2). The composite contain 29 % poly (N-methyl pyrrole) by mass.
