摘要: The catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide has been of interest for many years since its process has been highly desirable to be used in monopropellant and bipropellant thruster to control and adjust the orbits and altitudes of spacecrafts. Ag/SiO2 is an effective catalyst for hydrogen peroxide decomposition. Traditional Ag/SiO2 catalysts are prepared by the incipient wet impregnation method where controlling the particle size is difficult and the catalysts agglomerate easily, which have detrimental effects on the catalytic activity. Made use of the commercial colloidal silica, which possesses huge specific surface area and can easily absorb the Ag nanoparticles, a novel supported Ag/SiO2 catalyst is prepared in microemulsions. The catalysts investigated showed a high catalytic activity for hydrogen peroxide decomposition. The rate constants are two magnitudes higher than that obtained with catalysts prepared by the impregnation method.
