AbstractStability tests of hydrogen production from ethanol by steam reforming,partial oxidation and oxidative steam reforming were conducted over Ir/CeO2 catalysts at 923K with approximately stoichiometric feed streams.Rather stable catalytic performance for 60h time on stream was observed. Structure analysis of the used catalysts revealed that the Ir particles(2-3 nm)were still highly dispersed on surface of ceria, but the particle size of ceria increased from 6 nm to 14-27 nm,depending on the reaction atmosphere. However, this change in particle size did not influence on the activity and stability.We suppose that the excellent redox features of ceria made the easy activation of water and/or oxygen for promoting the carbon removal. The equilibrium between coke formation and gasification was established during the reactions.
