摘要: As a promising candidate for new power supplier, Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is on the way of its commercialization. Durability, cost, hydrogen generation and distribution are the main issues of the PEMFC wide application. Technologies of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) engines have being under development in China since 1990’s. With the support from National 863 High Technology Programme during the 9th 5-year and the 10th 5-year plan, progress on the key materials and components of PEMFC in China has been made in the past ten years. The presentation introduces the history, the current status and the prospective of the research work on PEMFCs. The up to date progress of the key materials, i.e. electrocatalysts, electrodes, proton exchange membranes and bipolar plates, are summarized. Low platinum catalyst and carbon nano-material supported electrocatalyst demonstrate hopeful performance, which could benefit the PEMFC both on its lifetime and cost. In the PEMFC application, the impurity effects on the catalyst and PEMFC performance, as well as its lifetime are all necessary to be studied. Electrolyte membranes have been taken more and more attention in the recent years. Kinds of composite materials have been synthesized for size stability improvement, high temperature and self-humidifying operations. The new membranes make it available for wider operation conditions. To improve bipolar plate characteristics, expended graphite, metal and composite bipolar plates have been compared in PEMFCs’ application. Moreover, the material behavior under subzero temperature and impurity environment are also investigated. From the long term point of view, the breakthrough of material research and components development will accelerate the commercialization of PEMFC engine.
