题名: Feasibility of sponge Hymeniacidon perlevis in controlling pathogenic bacteria in turbot Scophthalmus maximus-culture water system

摘要: been reported to possess high efficiency in removing pathogenic bacteria from ambient water (Fu et al., 2006;Milanese et al., 2003; Stabili et al., 2006). However no investigation was done in actual mariculture system. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using marine sponge Hymeniacidon perlevis to control pathogenic bacteria growth in turbot Scophthalmus maximus-culture water system. The fecal coliforms, pathogenic vibrios and total bacteria were monitored when marine sponge H. perlevis was co-cultured with turbot S. maximus at a mariculture farm. It was found that pathogenic bacteria in S.maximus-culturedwater grewfaster above 13 ◦C, and marine sponge H. perlevis exhibited high removal efficiency of pathogenic bacteria in fish-culture effluent at 10–20 ◦C. Great capacity of controlling pathogenic bacteria by H. perlevis was obtained at 14–18 ◦C for 4 days in a 180 L turbot S. maximuscultured water system. In 1.5m3 S. maximus-culture water system at 15–18 ◦C for 42 days, the sponge H. perlevis continuously showed good control of pathogenic bacteria, resulting in significant improvement in aquaculture water quality. The results from this study demonstrate that sponge H. perlevis is an effective biorebioremediator of pathogenic bacteria in turbot S. maximus-culture water system.
