题名: Direct catalytic conversion cellulose into ethylene glycol over bimetallic catalysts

摘要: A series of metallic catalysts were evaluated in the catalytic conversion of cellulose in the aqueous condition and hydrogen atmosphere. The group-VIII metal doped bimetallic catalysts Pt-W/AC, Pd-W/AC, Ir-W/AC, Ru-W/AC, Ni-W/SiC and Ni-W/SBA-15 were found to be very efficient for the EG production. Compared to the monometallic catalysts Ni/AC, Pt/AC, Ir/AC, Pd/AC, Ru/AC, and W/AC, the significantly higher EG yields over the bimetallic catalysts demonstrated synergetic effects between W and the group-VIII metals. Even with the mechanically mixed Ni/AC and W/AC catalysts, a high EG yield was achieved. Combined with various characterizations, the results strongly suggest that the EG production from catalytic conversion of cellulose most likely proceeds via a bi-functional mechanism over the tungsten based catalysts.
