摘要: The segmented-in-series solid oxide fuel cell (SS-SOFC) has a short current path and can be implemented in a flat-tube configuration. In order to estimate the influence of the ohmic resistance on the cell performance, a model has been developed to evaluate the electrical losses in SS-SOFC. In the model, the losses from electrolyte, electrode and interconnector ohmic resistances are considered, and equations are solved numerically through finite element methods (FEM). The distributions of electrical potential and current density in the cell are given out. The cell structural parametric researches are carried out using the mathematical model. For a given cell dimension, the cell has an optimal cell length exhibiting a maximum power density. When longer than the optimal length, the power density decreases with the increasing of cell length due to resistance loss. When shorter than the optimal length, the power density decreases with the decrease of cell lengths due to less cell active area. Given an interconnector width of 1.5 mm, the optimal cell lengths is between 2.5 and 3.5 mm. It is also shown that an increase in cathode thickness reduces ohmic losses in SS-SOFC
