题名: Thermodynamic study of an unique ionic Liquid, 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate

摘要: The thermodynamic properties of the titled IL compound ([EMIM][FAP], CAS-NO: 377739-43-0) were studied with high precision adiabatic calorimetry (AC) , thermogravimatric analysis (TG-DTG) and differential scanning alorimetry (DSC). The heat capacities were precisely measured in the temperature range from 78 K to 410 K by means of a fully automated adiabatic calorimeter [1]. A solid-solid phase transition at 236.481  0.130 K and a solid-liquid fusion transition at 272.377  0.186 K were observed ( Fig.1), respectively. The molar enthalpy and entropy of the two transitions were determined to be 12.58  0.79 kJmol-1, 53.19  3.33 J mol-1 for the solid-solid transition, and 14.03  0.11 kJ mol-1, 51.52  0.44 J mol-1 for the solid-liquid transition, respectively. The thermodynamic functions, ( ) and ( ), were derived from the heat capacity data[2] in the experimental temperature range with an interval of 5 K. The thermostablility of the ionic liquid was further studied by TGA and DSC measurements. The results of thermal analysis indicate that the IL starts to decompose at about 624 K and completes its mass loss at about 750 K (Fig.2). The chemical purity of the sample used for the calormitric study was determineted to be 99.67% ,based on the heat capacity measurements according to ideal solution law [3,4].
