题名: Effect of Anionic Chain Lengths on thermochemistry properties of amine functionalized sulfonium ionic liquids

摘要: Ionic liquids (ILs) attract increasing attentions of many researchers due to their interesting properties and potential applications. Most ionic liquids are based on similar cation structures with modified alkyl chains and show notable chain length dependences in their physicochemical properties. Therefore we concentrate our current investigations on the synthesis of ILs with variation of functionalized anions and the characterization of their properties. It is known that gradual changes of cationic structures lead to smooth properties changes, while the variation of anions shows significant differences in their physical properties. However, there are only a few reports regarding the impact of modifications in the anion alkyl chain length. In addition, ILs based on amine containing anions are of special interest for CO2 absorption materials[1]. Therefore it is of particular interest and critical importance to characterize the properties of these new ILs which effect the absorption of CO2. As a consequence, we synthesized a series of ionic liquids containing amine functionalized sulfonium anions with different chain length at the amine function in Fig. 1 [1]. All obtained ILs were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The most significant change was observed when the alky chain length in the anion was increased, as shown in Fig. 2. Similar to what has been observed for the cationic alkyl chain increase[2], short anionic alkyl chain ILs like [N1123][NH2C3SO3] exhibit a single melting peak, while increasing the chain length up to C8 in IL [N1123][OctNHC3SO3] results in the coexistence of metastable crystal forms which lead to two crystalline peaks and melting peaks in the DSC.
