摘要: Every kind of configuration of carbon dissociated from ethylene on Pt(111) has been identified by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and Photoelectron spectroscopy. Carbidic carbon forms after the fully dehydrogenation of hydrocarbon below 700K, flat graphene forms between 900K and 1100K, to be interesting, curved graphene and tube-like structure carbon appear over 1100K, and at higher temperature over 1200K, subsurface or bulk carbon forms. The weak interaction between carbon and Pt is regarded as the main reason for the novel structure appearing on Pt(111) surface, which also gives a new explanation of carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) growth mechanism catalyzed by Pt particles.
