摘要: A new environmentally benign process for the production of aqueous solutions of hydroxide ionic liquid precursors based on imidazolium, ammonium and pyrrolidinium cations is presented. Electrodialysis (ED) is an electrochemical membrane separation process in which ions are separated or concentrated. Commercially available ion exchange membranes (FuMATech GmbH, fumasep, FKB, FBM, FAB) were integrated into an electrodialysis unit (ED64004, PCA) according to a three-cell setup. Electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (EDBM) was implemented to produce the hydroxide-based precursors in approx. 5 wt% in water from [EMIM][EtOSO3], [EMMIM][EtOSO3], [N1124]Br or [PMPyr]Br depending on the desired cation. The concentration of hydroxide precursors in the product solution was determined by titration with 0.1M HCl solution using phenolphthalein as indicator. Then the precursors were reacted with equiv. mol NH4SCN and the mixture was stirred for several minutes at room temperature. The ammonia and water were removed by a rotary evaporator and the ILs were further dried at 70℃ high vacuum. In this work we present a highly promising approach for the production of hydroxide-based precusors for the benign synthesis of ionic liquids. The process is greatly flexible with respect to capacity and feed applied. Furthermore, the rather simple process can also be easily transferred to larger scales.
