英文摘要We have shown two examples demonstrating that the mesoporous carbons exhibited superior performances in the catalytic conversion of cellulose. When sulfonated at 250 oC, the resulting sulfonated mesoporous carbons acted as a strong acid catalyst for the hydrolysis of cellulose with a high yield of glucose. When loading tungsten carbide, the mesoporous carbons acted as a very effective catalyst support for the hydrogenolysis of cellulose to ethylene glycol with the yield of glycol as high as 72%. The superior performance of the mesoporous carbons should be attributed to the accessibility of the active sites well dispersed in the mesopores and the improved transportation of bulky molecules.; We have shown two examples demonstrating that the mesoporous carbons exhibited superior performances in the catalytic conversion of cellulose.
