AbstractWe report a coumarin-derived fluorescent sensor for Zn2+ termed CTS. CTS shows excellent binding selectivity for Zn2+ over competing metal ions due to the transformable ability of CTS, that is the displacement of other metal ions by Zn2+, which induces transformation of chelation from an amide to an imidic acid tautomeric form.
