英文摘要: UV Raman spectroscopy has been employed to investigate the surface phase transformation of zirconia calcined at different temperatures in different atmospheres. The calcination of samples in gas containing O-2 leads to the formation of the monoclinic phase, while the calcination in inert gas delays the formation of the crystal phase and benefits the stabilization of the tetragonal phase. The tetragonal phase in the surface region transforms easily to the monoclinic phase when the samples are exposed to air, indicating that the tetragonal phase is prone to be unstable in the surface region of the samples. It is possible that oxygen vacancies formed in the surface region in the absence of oxygen can prevent the transformation from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic phase. When the samples are exposed to air, the elimination of these vacancies by the incorporation of oxygen facilitates the transformation from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic phase.
