AbstractThe main active ingredients, ferulic acid. and ligustilide in Chinese traditional medicine, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, were separated and identified by high performance liquid chromatography-mass sepctrum (HPLC-MS). The standard ligustilide was prepared with preparative scale HPLC and identified by HPLC-diode array detection, mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy. Four kinds of extractiting solvent and extraction time affecting on the extraction efficiency of ferulic acid and ligustilide in Rhizoma Chuanxiong were examined, and a quality control method was also developed based on the quantitative determination of ferulic acid and liguistilide in extracted solutions of Rhizoma Chuanxiong by water and ethanol. The amount of ferulic acid and ligustilide in Rhizoma Chuanxiong determined are as much as 0.15% ( W/W) and 0.82% (W/W).
