英文摘要Biological degradation of chlorinated hydrocarbons by methane-oxidizing bacteria Methylomonas sp. GYJ-3 was studied to examine the possibility of using this process for purification of waste waters. Methylomonas sp. GYJ-3, a strain of type I methanotrophic bacteria, completely oxidized chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHCl3, CH2Cl2, and trichloroethylene) within 12 to 30 min, The utilized concentration of CHCl3 (0.5 M), CH2Cl2 (1.8 M), and trichloroethylene (0.075 M) was several times higher than the usual level of waste water contamination with these substances, Adding electron donors, such as methanol, formaldehyde, and sodium formate, to the culture increased the rate of CHCl3 oxidation 1.5- to 2-fold. The biological degradation of CHCl3 was inhibited by urea (1.6 mM) and acetylene (saturated solution), suggesting the involvement of methane monooxygenase in the biological degradation of chlorinated hydrocarbons.
