AbstractA novel catalyst Pd-Ru/HPA/SiO2 (HPA-heteropolyacid) was prepared by stepping impregnation, and its catalytic performance for direct oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid was evaluated. Under the optimized conditions of V(C2H4): V(air): V(steam) = 55:22:23, GHSV = 4000 h(-1), p = 1.4 MPa and theta = 150 similar to 160 degreesC, the yield of acetic acid was up to 480 g/(L.h), being higher than that over the catalyst produced by Nippon Showa Denko K K.
