AbstractA high performance capillary array electrophoresis device with rotary scanner, based on confocal laser-induced fluorescence detection techniques has been developed. The miniature high speed direct current motor, along with a reflection inirror was introduced to accelerate the speed of data acquisition and direct the focused excitation laser beam with 532 nm on the detection window of capillaries, which were symmetrically fixed in the grooved cylinder ring. The absolute rotary encoder was used to locate every capillary and trigger the data acquisition system to collect the fluorescence signal corresponding to the position of each capillary. The basic performance of 16-channel capillary array electrophoresis was evaluated by using Rhodamine 6G and Rhodamine B as test samples.
