英文摘要: A discharge test was conducted to evaluate the degradation of the performance of electrocatalysts in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCS). The results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses show that after the test, the mean particle size of the anode electrocatalyst did not change, while that of the cathode electrocatalyst increased remarkably. The main reason for the sintering of electrocatalysts is the existence of liquids. Amorphous Ru species in the anode catalyst inhibit the growing of Pt crystallites. The electrochemical surface area (ECSA) decreased. after the discharge test, with a degree higher than the specific surface area (SSA), both for the anode and the cathode. Part of ruthenium was lost from the anode electrocatalyst during the discharge test.
