AbstractThe 1,3-dialkylimidazole-2-selones-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of organic amines and ethanolamine with carbon monoxide to ureas and 2-oxazolidinone was investigated. Moderate to good product yields were obtained. Odour existing in elemental selenium-catalyzed carbonylation reactions can be avoided in this catalytic system.
