英文摘要: A novel organocatalytic system consisting of 2,4,6-tribromophenol (TBP) bromine and sodium nitrite was developed for direct oxidation of primary alcohols to dimeric esters using oxygen. The catalysts loading and reaction conditions were systematically optimised with octanol as model molecule. The oxidation results of various primary aliphatic alcohols proved it as an efficient catalytic system for oxidative dimerisation of primary alcohol, e.g octanol can be efficiently oxidised with 92% conversion and 97% selectivity for octyl octyrate at 50 degrees C. The mechanism of ester formation was investigated in details by using possible intermediates, and it indicated that ester was formed via aldehyde and hemi acetate.
